Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy and how can it help me?

Therapy is a general term for treating mental health challenges by talking to a trained mental health professional, using various evidence-based approaches. During the process, you gain insight and awareness into your psychological patterns that are governed by your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Everyone experiences challenges in their life, and handles these challenges in different ways. Therapy offers an opportunity to uncover, confront and address these challenges in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space.

Is what we discuss during therapy sessions confidential?

As a licensed professional counselor, I am ethically required to keep what we discuss during sessions confidential. Release To Peace, LLC highly values your privacy and confidentiality, but there are limitations. I am legally mandated to report any concerns of imminent danger to you or others, as well as suspected or confirmed abuse of children, elderly or disabled persons. Feel free to ask any additional questions in your consultation form or during our initial call.

Are you the right therapist for me?

This is totally up to you! Choosing the right therapist for yourself is an important task, and I always encourage potential clients to “shop” around to find the right match. Most people take into consideration a therapist’s clinical training/specialties, experience and education. Some also consider how they feel when engaging with a potential therapist. Do you feel safe and at ease? Do you feel heard? Do you feel understood?

I encourage anyone who may be thinking about working with me to take a good look at the content on this website. Consider what’s important to you in your relationship with your potential therapist and determine if what you see aligns with what you need. A few important points that may help you make an informed decision are that I work with adult women ages 18+ and who live in the state of Georgia; I offer telehealth only; I treat women who have experienced traumatic and/or adverse experiences, depression, anxiety, relational issues and self esteem/worth challenges.

How long should I expect to be in therapy?

Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons, so the therapeutic process will look different for everyone. Generally, therapy with me will involve identifying stressors, talking through adverse experiences and identifying how they have impacted you, addressing the wounds that have resulted from these experiences, and working toward the goal(s) you have set mentally, emotionally and relationally. The more open and involved you are in there therapeutic process, the more likely you are to see the progress you desire. It’s important to keep in mind that change can be slow, difficult and sometimes downright frustrating. It’s not an easy process and there is no “once and for all” cure. But what’s also important to keep in mind is that I am committed to helping cultivate a space in which you feel safe, heard and supported. Healing is a journey…a courageous one.

What should I expect during our first session?

Our first session will be used to get further acquainted and for me to learn more about you and how I can support your needs. We will review practice policies, as well as your history/experiences. We will use this information to identify treatment goals that will inform our sessions moving forward. Ongoing assessment of these goals will be facilitated to measure growth/progress.

What states do you service?

I can service individuals who reside in the state of Georgia.

Do you take insurance? What investment should I expect to make?

I am currently in network with Aetna and Optum/United Healthcare. If you do not see your insurance listed, this does not mean I cannot provide you therapy services. Below you will find alternative payment options:

-There is a self pay option of $120 per session (weekly or bi-weekly)

-You can use your Out-Of-Network benefits if you have them and may be eligible for reimbursement.

-I also accept Loveland Foundation vouchers.

What are Out-Of-Network benefits? How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?

Out-Of-Network benefits typically help pay for providers outside of your insurance plan. You pay the self pay rate and I provide you a form called a “superbill” monthly for you to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. I highly recommend contacting your insurance company to gather more information about whether or not you have these benefits, reimbursement rates, etc.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

I only offer virtual services at this time. This is done through a HIPAA compliant platform

How do I get started?
